The Best Laid Plans....

I'm currently at the Basel Euroairport. Why? Because my original flight to Frankfurt was canceled and I missed my connection. Now I am flying to Dusseldorf to get a flight back home across the pond. I am not so happy with my chosen airline so far. Here's how it went down: I got up in the middle of the night to catch the first bus to the airport at 4:55. I went through security, found the gate and then at 5:30 they announced the flight was canceled due to technical problems. This is where it got ridiculous; we had to go get our checked luggage and go back to the service counter [which is back outside of security] and where about 3 people were trying to rebook an entire flight. I waited there for about 45min before I got rerouted. Now we are supposed to start boarding at 8:55 to make the 9:20 flight to DUS, but no plane, no activity, it doesn't look good... The best part, although I did get a direct flight home, it's on another airline and I don't yet have a seat assignment, this particular airline doesn't fly out of Basel, so there's nothing I can do until I get to DUS. Will my luggage make it all the way home? Who knows? And when I booked this trip, I specifically selected the 6:00 flight to Frankfurt so that I would have 3 hours to make the 10:10 flight home, no such luck.
